Hans teaches classical and contemporary music to students eight years and up. He has been teaching music for four years, and specializes in adult learners and coaching the self-taught on both Bass Guitar and Classical Double Bass. He also teaches composition, song writing, music theory, ear training, and music history.

As an adult, Hans returned to classical music for the love and exploration of his art...
Hans' formal training began at age 6 with Suzuki violin. Formal study with professional instructors, on no less than two instruments at a time, continued through the end of high school. After high school he pursued his love of music by teaching himself electric bass for rock and jazz. He developed as a player and spent time anchoring rhythm sections for various bands in Madison and Chicago. After a time, he decided to return to his roots in classical music, and returned to college to pursue a degree in performance bass as a non-traditional student.
Hans now holds a Bachelor of music degree from Chicago College of the Performing Arts (CCPA) and he is the recipient of a performance-based scholarship for outstanding music students for the fourth year running. He is currently 53 days from finishing his Masters of music in double bass performance and is the graduate teaching assistant for all music history classes at the CCPA.
He teaches, composes, and performs classical, jazz, rock, fusion, and everything in between. Lessons will be structured around the concepts each student needs to be a functional bassist AND musician. Hans will use examples and techniques from each students' musical style preferences, as well as exposing them to new styles as lessons progress.
